One Round win by Death

Game: Mortal Kombat 1. Platform: Super Nintendo.
Submitted by Airmac on 01/20/04.

After Rayden has performed his fatality in the second round the opponent would get a sign for a winning round. This is only by Rayden.

Shadow Boxing.

Game: Mortal Kombat 1. Platform: Arcade.
Submitted by Epsilon on 12/03/03.

Surpirsed this one hasn't been posted. In MK 1 - arcade....make it all the way to endurance three. Win the first round, and get close to winning the second (get your enemies energy down to maybe one hit left). Walk into any corner....once in the corner hit your opponent to finish the round. DO NOT PREFORM THE FATALITY, instead just hold back so your character is walking back against the wall. KEEP HOLDING BACK. After a couple of seconds your opponent will go up in smoke and goro will fall from the ceiling. Notice the your character is still walking backwards. When goro falls from the ceiling he looks at you and do his growl. Now this next part takes a little timing, but once you get it down its easy. Right when goro is about to face you to begin to fight, do a backflip. Your character will fall through the floor leaving only the shadow. Goro cannot hit you like this, nor can you hit him. If you press any of the kicks or try jumping, it will make your character reappear on the screen.

This glitch works with every character on all versions of MK1. Remember, keep holding back until Goro faces to fight you, at which time you do a backflip. ENJOY!!!!!!
I have more, but Im not sure Im ready to post them as of yet ;-)

Sub Zero head rip, disappearing body

Game: Mortal Kombat 1. Platform: Arcade.
Submitted by ´'`WaR´'` on 09/06/03.

OK listen up ppl cause this is a very hard one to pull off. I have been able to do it on several occasions (back in the day), though I have never seen anyone else successfully simulate it.

When you're playing as sub zero, and you finish off your opponent after knocking him back into his/her corner (easiest to pull off when fighting Kano or Raiden I think) AND with a move that knocks your opponent in the air (uppercut or jump kick/punch f.e.), QUICKLY perform the head-rip fatality on the airborne opponent WHILE he/she is still in the air, falling down. Sub Zero will pull the head off, and the body will fall through the ground, off-screen, and disappear.

This bug is pretty easy to simulate on very old arcade version boards of MK1. On those boards (they may have been beta's, dunno) there was little or no delay after doing an uppercut. On the more recent versions it's MUCH harder to do because your character will be 'frozen" for a little while after doing an uppercut and you'll have little or no time to do the fatality.

Don't have a screenshot, sorry :(
I am, though, the proud owner of a (recent version) Mortal Kombat cabinet so I'll try to add a screenshot one day if I can recreate the bug on it.. Skills are a bit rusty.

Green Scorpion / Sub-Zero

Game: Mortal Kombat 1. Platform: Super Nintendo.
Submitted by Total-MK on 02/04/03.

This is rather easy to do, and pretend you are Reptile agianst your mates ;). Fight Reptile in the 1 Player game, then when the Reptile fight comences in the pit, simply press start on P2 / P1 Controller, After the 'A Challanger has enterd the tournamnet' goes away, on the character select screen with the challangers controlls, highlight Scorpion or Sub-Zero, They will be Green. :)

Ill add a screenshot soon

Cage's Fatality Glitch

Game: Mortal Kombat 1. Platform: Arcade.
Submitted by MKSECRETS on 02/02/03.

Ok, start off doing his "Endless Air Juggle" Glitch I described before (simply keep doing a jumping high punch when your opponent is against the corner, who will hit the floor whenever you decide to stop).

Obviously, you'll have taken away ALL his/her energy, so AS SOON AS YOU STOP THE JUGGLE, it will say "Finish Him!" Start doing the button combination for his fatality BEFORE your opponent hits the floor,
and if timed correctly, he'll uppercut his opponent, BUT WILL NOT DECAPITATE HIM/HER, yet it will still say "Fatality!"

Cage's ENLDESS air juggle

Game: Mortal Kombat 1. Platform: Arcade.
Submitted by MKSECRETS on 01/28/03.

When fighting your opponent (doesn't matter if it's a human player of the CPU).
when you're FACING the edge of the screen (your opponent's back is AGAINST the edge)
if he jumps up and you manage to connect with a JUMPING HIGH PUNCH, simply keep doing it over
and over again. Your opponent will not hit the ground UNTIL YOU STOP HITTING HIM!!

In fact, you can keep doing it well AFTER your opponent has no energy left!

P.S. I THINK it also works if you use Kano.

Cage's 2 Head Fatality

Game: Mortal Kombat 1. Platform: Arcade.
Submitted by MKSECRETS on 01/28/03.

LOL, I CAN'T believe no one's put this one in yet.

Anyway, when it says "FINISH HIM", simply do his fatality button sequence,
and IMMEDIATELY do it again. If timed correctly, he'll uppercut 2 HEADS!!

P.S. Where'd you think they got the "Cage's 3 Head Fatality" secret for MK2 from? ;-)

TUG

Game: Mortal Kombat 1. Platform: Super Nintendo.
Submitted by Nick Inabnit on 01/23/03.

What happens: You can walk off screen and walk through characters.

(Will not work on Liu Kang.) As Sonya, be in the corner--just a bit away from the very edge--and have your opponent within leg-grab range. Do the leg-grab and then, as they are slightly air-born from the bounce off the ground, do an upper-cut to juggle them.

For some reason unknown to me, this activates TUG.

Effects of TUG:

-characters can walk through each other
-characters can walk off of the screen

Doing a throw or another leg-grab will de-activate TUG.

Things to do with TUG:

-Do Sonya's Fatality (F,F,B,B+BL) from off the screen. (Spontaneous
combustion...) :)

-As Sub-Zero, be in the corner with the opponent so that you are both facing the same way. Kill them with a sweep (looks weird), then do his Fatality (F,D,F+HP), and he will be *well* out of range for the back-hand which is suppose to shatter them. They still shatter even though Subby is almost a half-screen away from them.

-Do Scorpions spear with the opponent about 1 and 3/4 screens away. It just looks weird.

-Be in the corner with Rayden and have your opponent jump all the way to the other corner. Do a teleport and the view will ZOOM over to the other corner. Looks neat. :)

Endless knives

Game: Mortal Kombat 1. Platform: Super Nintendo.
Submitted by Nick Inabnit on 01/23/03.

What happens: You can do a knife toss with Kano by simply hitting block.

Kill the opponent with Kano's knife toss and don't let go of block. The next round, Kano will continue to throw out knife after knife, one at a time, until you release block.

Gray Goro

Game: Mortal Kombat 1. Platform: Super Nintendo.
Submitted by ]{0MBAT on 01/23/03.

What it does: Makes Goro's palette a glitchy silver color while you fight him.

Kill the last person of the third endurance match with Rayden's Fatality. If they go up in smoke and Goro comes down, he will be a glitchy silver color. He will automatically revert back to normal after the first round.

Freeze Goro

Game: Mortal Kombat 1. Platform: Super Nintendo.
Submitted by Nick Inabnit on 01/23/03.

What happens: Goro becomes "frozen" and doesn't move at all.

Do Scorpion's teleport punch, then immediately follow that with a spear. If Goro blocks the spear, more often than not, he will be frozen in his block pose. You can just sweep him to death (and he will NOT unfreeze), or you can just it him with anything else and he will unfreeze.

Subzero mercy fatality

Game: Mortal Kombat 1. Platform: Super Nintendo.
Submitted by drfatal on 01/23/03.

To see a cool fatality glitch, take Sub-Zero, (it's easier to do if you're not really fighting an active opponent, so leave the second player "dormant") and beat your opponent one round. On the second round, kill them until they have only a tiny bit of energy left. Now, just keep throwing your Ice Blast (Freeze move) and eventually, it will say Finish Him/Her when they are frozen. Do your fatality and the statue will crumble, but your opponent is still standing, still dizzy!

Reptile Illusion

Game: Mortal Kombat 1. Platform: Sega CD.
Submitted by drfatal on 01/23/03.

When you are fighting Reptile, press START on Controller Two. When the player select screen appears, Sub-Zero and Scorpion will turn green.

Miscolored Goro

Game: Mortal Kombat 1. Platform: Genesis.
Submitted by kryptondog on 01/23/03.

To begin, enter the DULLARD code (Down, Up, Left, Left, A, Right, Down) on the start menu and access the cheat section. Turn on flag 0, 1, and 2. Then, fight a one-player game until you get to the last match before Goro (should be an endurance match). Lose until you're at The Pit. Get a double-flawless victory and perform your fatality (just like you would to get to Reptile).

When you fight Goro, he'll be spotted with bits of green. Unfortunately, that appears to be the exstent of the change, but it's interesting nonetheless.

Hybrid fighters

Game: Mortal Kombat 1. Platform: Genesis.
Submitted by kryptondog on 01/23/03.

First, enter the DULLARD code (Down, Up, Left, Left, A, Right, Down) on the start menu and access the cheat section. Turn on flag 0, 1, and 2. Then, fight a one-player game until you get to an endurance match. Lose until you're at The Pit.

Get a double-flawless victory and perform your fatality (just like you would to get to Reptile). This is difficult to do; it helps if you have some strategic game genie codes enabled. After dispatching the endurance round fighters, you'll go to Reptile. Beat him. A character then jumps down, just like you're fighting in an endurance match. The character is cross between one of the original characters and Reptile; they appear to be covered in green garbage. Interestingly enough, the moves for the hybrid fighter are affected also. Sonya shoots out rings that can freeze the opponent. Johnny Cage performs a dodgy shadow kick that turns into a spear. I've tried it with every character but Kano (for some reason I can't get him to appear as the 2'nd endurance character). It's tough to pull off, but very rewarding.

Here's some animated gifs I've made of some of the hybrid characters performing their glitchy fatalities. Hope you like.

Control the opponent

Game: Mortal Kombat 1. Platform: Super Nintendo.
Submitted by The_Purple_Bunny on 01/23/03.

The result of this glitch is the ability for player 2 to control the CPU opponents in the 1-Player mode of this game. Although it does cause errors and lockups, with a Game Genie you can even attempt to play as Goro or Shang Tsung. This trick IS CONFIRMED BY ME TO WORK. Now, to do this trick;

First, start a normal one-player game. At the character slect screen select the character you want to play as. Now here's the tricky part. When you select your character their picture will flash and then enter a darkened tone. The trick here is to press Start on controller 2 at the EXACT SAME TIME that your character's picture stops flashing. Once you do this successfully, the cursor for player 2 will appear, but no character will appear on the right side of the screen.

At the VS screen, you will have your character and Sub-Zero, however, when the round starts, player 2 will really be Johnny Cage. At this point, press Start on controller 1, and it will bring up a box saying that Player 2 has entered the Tournament, even though Player 2 is already there as Cage.

Now, it will go to the Battle Plan, and it will have Johnny Cage as Player 1. This is where the trick pays off. At the start of the round, you will be the character you originally chose, but now Player 2 can control the opponent that's really supposed to be CPU controlled! You can now battle standing opponents throughout the one player game!! The only problem is that the game can crash, so be careful.

The best part, with a Game Genie, use the code D861-14DD, and after you do the trick above you'll be taken straight to Shang Tsung. WARNING!!: If you use an emulator such as ZSNES, attempting to move Tsung at all will cause an error in the program.

I give credit for this trick to dmx_nas2000, for introducing me to this trick. If you learned this trick from this page, give credit to him as well.

fake lui kang fatality

Game: Mortal Kombat 1. Platform: Genesis.
Submitted by scorpionmaster930 on 01/22/03.

choose lui kang and beat your opponent. when it says finish him, do lui kang's fatality. lui kang will do a cartwheel but he won't uppercut the enemy. the enemy will be left stunned until you hit him or the fatality time ends.

fall forward skeleton

Game: Mortal Kombat 1. Platform: Genesis.
Submitted by scorpionmaster930 on 01/22/03.

choose scorpion. when you get to the finish him screen, throw the other player and rapidly press up. if you do it right, scorpion will pull off his mask while the opponent is on the ground and torch him. when the fire is gone the skeleton returns to normal.
